Let’s talk about anxiety…
I do not even know where to start on this topic and how to even explain what it is like… if you are someone who suffers from anxiety, you are not alone. Some may mistaken anxiety for a sense of nervousness although it can be a little more complicated than that unfortunately. There are of course some who suffer a lot worse than others and that it completely understandable, but we know how each other feel.
Having anxiety is like… being trapped, literally. I’ll shed a little light on my story. Last year, my life kind of made a massive change which I had mentally prepared for although this change ended quite quickly (those close to me probably know what I am speaking of). After these changes happened back and forth, I basically lost myself for a while and was in a little of a tough state which I came out of stronger, in which I am grateful for. Although I handled that well, my anxiety has been something I cannot seem to lose.
It begun with me struggling to go to my full-time role, (which I ended up leaving, after two months I now work elsewhere) I basically stopped socializing with friends and stayed alone and it got to a point where I was too anxious to leave my house. There are circumstances in which these still happen but luckily a taught myself to deal with it and continue to live my life to the best of my ability, in which I hope to support you with too.
Handling your anxiety
- Remind yourself, this is just my mind playing me
Whenever you are feeling strange about something and you begin becoming more anxious, allow yourself to know that your mind is playing tricks on you and trying to basically get in the way of you living. To ensure you embrace every moment, try your best to push past the difficulty of you mind playing tricks and enjoy yourself.
- Attempt at your best, to not overthink… as much
I am guilty of this. I will admit there are plenty of times where I miss an incredible opportunity to do something in my day because I overthink a situation and stop it from happening completely. No matter what we all overthink at times, but unfortunately for those who suffer from anxiety overthinking seems to occur as often as breathing. Fight it to the best of your ability. Do not let down an opportunity to do something because you think too much into it. I know it’s hard but you can do it.
- You have time…
The one thing that lead me to having bad anxiety was that, I was continuously afraid to go do something. I always thought I was wasting my time alone (introvert problems). I would work myself up over going to lunch or for a drive. All I would want to do was get back into my safe place (home). I do still struggle with this every day. I continue to remind myself that I always have time to be back in my safe place as it will always be there.
- Find those who make you feel most safe, stay around them
I’ve always been a mama’s girl and loved hanging out with my mum. Since things went all crazy last year I’ve become inseparable from her, she makes me feel super happy and safe. My partner also makes me feel most safe, the moment I am with him I forget about absolutely anything that I may have previously been worried about. What I am saying is the people who make you forget your worries, stresses and whatever you are feeling anxious over, I believe you should continue to be with them.
- Ummmmmm….. Meditate
This for some may be extremely difficult, I feel ya! I never ever know how to stop my mind myself. I would not be able to just meditate on my own, which is why I use this. This app is incredible and basically has every single option possible. If you are struggling to sleep it can help, anxious for a speech is can help and even if you are taking a walk it’s got your back! Meditation has been one of the greatest life changers for me relating to my anxiety. It has helped me literally toss away negative thoughts and refresh my mind to feeling more content and positive.
- Just keep going
If you have been able to remove anxiety from your life, I really want to congratulate you as it has been extremely hard for myself & many others I know. If you are still struggling with anxiety, I just want you to keep pushing yourself. You will become so resilient that anxiety will be nothing to you. The day that happens for you, know that I am proud but until then just keep going and pushing. You will get there one day.
I hope one or all of these tips help you, if you are somebody who suffers with anxiety. If you have any great tips you would love to share that would be fantastic, share below! I am open to trying new things and which I would share with my blog fam!
Just remember, you got this! ♡
Lots of love,
